Ode to Etiquette
In character Rules: Courtesy, Common sense, and Compromise. These simple rules are enforced by the operators. Should there be no active operators, any problem should be -logged- and reported. What is and isnt -legal- is up to the players, but the operators do pass judgement on many things. Not the least of which is fighting style, and fighting moves, that is covered in the other secion, dedicated to fighting rules. T1 is the accepted fighting style of the realm.
In short, treat others as you would like to be treated. Courtesy breeds courtesy.
Out Of Character
Anything that is not your character is out of character, hence the name (I.e.; chat ). all of this needs to be placed inside what is known as OOC Brackets, the reason for this is so that we don't ruin the simulation for everyone else, and so we can tell what's important to the RP. An example of OOC brackets, is simply putting (( )) arround the text in question. Any other of the bracketing methods can be used, like << >> or similar. There are even fancy ones. The point is, if OOC is in the RP room, it is bracketed. OOC in the RP room should be kept to a strict -minimum-. There is the OOC room for regular chat #RedDragonNet, use it. Also, you must know that OOC comments cannot be known to their characters. For instance, if OOC I tell you my character has a sword on him but its hidden, your character cant know about the sword.
Respect Rule
Each person that enters the Red Dragon Inn should and will be respected Out Of Character. You should respect them as a human being, at the very least. This includes use of vulgar language. -Some- vulgar words or language may be tolerated. But -not- when directed at another user. -ESPECIALLY- when such language is of a racial nature. Racial slurs or curse words will -not be- tolerated in any form, directed at -anyone-. When a person gains the status of a friend you respect them more. On the other hand, if this person does not gain a friendship status, you should still respect them as an enemy. Each person should be respected, treating someone less than a human being will result in being -banned-, no exceptions. This is not the same for in character, but we would like it to be. If your character is an ass hole, we cant do much about it, just don't be one out of character.
Negation of "Things" Rule
Matter is neither created nor destroyed. This is a rule in the -real world-, but only partially true in the FFRP world. The part of that which isn't true is that nothing, not matter, not energy, can be destroyed entirely. To do so would create a void in existence that would cause the entire world to collapse in upon itself. For this reason (as well as other more obvious ones), such concepts as "anti-matter", "anti-energy" or "anti-magic" are not allowed. To appease some people, however, the idea that a weapon could "break down" or "Decay" via matter/energy/magic is acceptable. It -can not- however destroy it.
Character Restriction
When in Rome, do as the Romans do... The Red Dragon Inn is set in a Middle-Earth type setting, with a few exceptions. It is not 100% Middle Earth, though the setting is in the Forests of Middle Earth. All Middle Earth character types are allowed, but we discourage playing characters from J.R.R. Tolkien's books. We also don't want to see anything obviously not medieval, or Middle Earth, like a large tyrannosaurus rex stomping up and eating the Red Dragon Inn. Or a raptor to come bounceing through the door. Those things, and any modern tech, dont belong in the Red Dragon Inn. For simple reference purposes, all tech is pre-gunpowder. Or in short, medieval. So, no guns, no bows above recurve era, you get the picture.
Time Travel/Rifts
This is NOT a Sci-Fi RPG, and if Time Travel is allowed, then it opens the doors for all sorts of things. So any time travel and trans-universal rifts are strictly disalowed.
Vampires
Middle-Earth is considered Earth, just medieval, or before any written history. Vampires can be played in many forms, but there are a few hard-and-fast rules that must be kept to. Firstly, sunlight -hurts- and can be fatal, get used to it. Secondly, stake through the heart is fatal, no way arround it. Though blood consumption is necessary for survival, please only prey on NPC characters, or if you have gotten OOC permission to prey on a character. Transforming into bat form (or another animal form) is allowed, but dont be surprised if this earns your character a huge heap of disrespect from other characters.
